Mercedes History

Mercedes is a company that has a long history. Founded in 1871, it is the oldest car brand in the world that is continually produced today. Karl Benz was the founder of the company, and the original name was Daimler-Benz. Karl Benz was only one of three inventors who was working on internal combustion engines at the same time, and the other two were Wilhelm Maybach and Gottlieb Daimler. Benz was eventually given a patent for his inventions, and by 1888, he had successfully sold his very first automobile. By 1891, he had successfully constructed his first car that had four wheels.

There would eventually be a unification between the company owned by Benz and Daimler Motoren Gesellschaft. They were forced to work together as a result of the first world war, and by 1926, they merged to form a new company called Daimler Benz AG. The company started producing cars and trucks shortly after the merger was complete, and the merger specified that the two companies must remain together until the year 2000. In addition to cars and trucks, the company also built engines, airplanes, and boats. Most of these vehicles were used to support the war effort.

While the company is primarily known for its luxury vehicles, it also produces high quality sports cars. One such car is the SSK and the 300SL. While Mercedes is commonly thought of as a company that only produces cars for the rich, throughout its history, there have been times when it produced high volume cars that were not very expensive. One good example of this is the Mercedes A-Class, a line of vehicles which are affordable when compared to other models. The company has built up a prominent reputation as a busines that places an emphasis on quality and engineering. The Mercedes is also known for its reliability.
